i have finally discovered why my printer-scanner has been failing to scan properly. all the time, i'd been trying to scan the piece of paper with all the macroecons essay questions into a pdf...but strangely, all that appeared when i scanned was a completely white sheet. no words. now i realize i have to put the side where the words are printed on facing the silly scanning thingummywhat. urrgh. all the time i'd been scanning the back of that paper.
english concurrent activity just now. three of 6.4's finest engrish students were carefully handpicked yesterday to represent the class in the y6 english concurrent activity- Taboo! okay actually, no one volunteered and mr lim sabo-ed koon han, yaseer and i...sigh. we were quite hopeful of doing well, haha. each team was made out of 3 players. 2 players would describe a word to their other teammate who would try to guess the word. but the 2 players couldn't use specific words that would make the guessing too easy- for example, 'fire', 'fly' and 'wings' couldn't be used to describe the word 'Dragon'.
yaseer came up with some code system- touching his the top of his left ear would mean A, touching the middle of his left ear would mean B, and so on...obviously, that didn't work out. 6.3 was leading at a very impressive 18 points when it was our turn. we went in and started the game. i guessed while koonhan and yaseer described the word...okay we were quite bad LOL. i was rather slow in firing guesses and the two of them were quite funny all the while, haha. best was when the word was 'Los Angeles'- Yaseer was like 'in the united states! loser anchorman!!' i was quite stunned for awhile then realized. L. A. "los angeles!". hahaha i got that one and the teacher's face was like HUH how the heck does loser anchorman mean los angeles. in the end, us three musketeers got a brilliant...seven points. good job, scouts. give yourself a pat on the back :P haha but those 3 minutes were quite fun :) i must get that game if i see it being sold outside. oh dear, i hope mr lim doesn't come after us tomorrow for failing quite badly :/ don't come between a lucky dragon and his wrath.
i find paddy a lot more complex than it appeared to be at first, with all the other interpretations that are quite viable...but it's still a great book :) above huck and siddhartha imo.
scouts camp over weekend was quite fun although we missed out on doing homework, heh. mdm tay isn't happy with the overdue design prac...anyway, got up on the day of the camp with a cold. cabbed with jiaren to the place and was late with him. we met up with our respective groups there, and believe it or not, i met the guy who has been written about in compositions by virtually every freaking student taking chinese. his name was Xiao Ming...gasp. LOL nvm. but wow, first time meeting someone with that legendary name o.o
it rained during the darn camp. my cold got worse. eventually got permission to go back to my group's hut to rest while they cooked dinner. okay, it wasn't really a hut. it was mostly a roof...with four wooden slabs for us to sleep on. LOL the kind of thing janice would sleep on :P pretty much the same as sleeping on wooden floor. no pillows, no mattress, no bedsheet. i didn't fall asleep at all while they were cooking dinner because, well, it was uncomfortable...fine, lousy scout. ugh. but my group was great at cooking :D other groups bought fresh fish and were scaling it, cutting it up, messing around with the fish bones...the only girl in my group happened to be a clever one- a vietnamese scholar actually- and bought fish fillet. awesome. no bones, just pop into the coconut shell and cook, haha. they brought me dinner in bed- more or less room service. thanks, exco 9 :)
my cold got worse throughout the day. see, there was this obstacle course which consisted of a rope which we had to climb, a straight line of suspended tires which we had to crawl through and finally a rope-net obstacle. we got through all of them and finally got to the last part, which wasn't really much of an obstacle but more of a retarded challenge where you had to scream your group name before sliding down a rather long water slide into a suspiciously brown pool of water. the organizing people called it the 'milo pool' for a reason...ugh. got wet but no one had a towel to dry off, so my cold worsened.
then it started to pour. rain, rain, rain. it happened when we were eating lunch, which was actually pretty good (well done camp organizers juno and kegan :D). apparently the organizing scouts thought the rain'd stop soon, but it got worse all of a sudden while the scouts flag was still flying high, which was a problem cause it's supposed to be lowered and taken indoors if it rained. so a bunch of us scouts, 50 or so, were eating lunch and suddenly catch sight of this heroic figure dashing into the rain and lowering the flag...good job, ong koon han. LOL. the flag suddenly dropped down halfway but he caught it (thank goodness) and everyone started applauding him haha. don't think he could hear it though, because of the rain.
night games were quite cool. we played "Ghosts". it was basically catching, but the catcher consisted of two people- one blindfolded, while the other guy had to direct him to catch the 'ghosts' which were people holding lightsticks to identify themselves as ghosts. i was blindfolded, but could, at close distances, see the glow of lightsticks nearby. so there was once where my partner was guiding me along, but i suddenly caught sight of a glowing stick nearby and rushed over and almost bumped over the person holding it. "caught you!" "OII GO AWAY LA" well, it turned out to be one of the organizing people -_- gaaah.
haha but overall the camp was fun :) thank you arjun, nicholas, xiao ming, minh thao, nelson and gabriel. we probably won't meet up again (so much for agreeing to the camp commandant's plea for us to have a gathering in the future) but well, it was fun while it lasted.
i find we guys are so...machiavellian.
