well firstly, thank you to everyone for their birthday cards/surprises/brownies (yum :D), although i've said that so many times, it really means more than words can express! clearly madam isn't the best at surprises, though. every time something unexpected was said, she'd say "is that the cue?" yeah, so i was wondering...possibly something could be up. anyway! the cake was nice (though my face didn't quite agree) and the rachel's almond jelly, too! the last few days of school were fun- toying with the ipad (i've been using it too much- felt quite stupid when i was using my grandpa's laptop the other day and used my finger to press the Start button on the screen), lunch@ikea on teacher's day (we met mr soo there- and forgot to wish him happy teachers' day -_-) and discovering xintian's amazing minesweeper skills- probably at the cost of her eating speed (heh, first to be served at last to finish :P) i've read through all the cards (multiple times!) much thanks to you people who took the time to do that (i am terribly lazy at writing/making cards so i know how tedious it is :/)

i rarely talk about my dreams, but i had one recently on saturday night/morning. i was at a harbour, maybe waiting for a ship that never comes. i'd been at that harbour in a previous dream- it's a peaceful place, with rafters overhead. i don't mind going there again. last time i was there with a certain brown math teacher (one of those 'scouty types' as someone likes to call us) but this time, i was with three friends- two classmates (i do remember who they are) and one scout (i don't recall who). one classmate was saying how difficult it is to get into NUS med while the other was scolding me, saying i was playing too much starcraft and at this point in time i should be mugging so much more. which is ironic, since i've already stopped playing for quite some time. i've wondered what dreams are for quite some time- been interested in them too since sec 4 when i read about lucid dreams (there is a growing market out there that offers services to help you get into those dreams), out of body experiences etc. i guess in this case the dream allowed inner fears to surface...ah nevermind, i am lazy to elucidate.

speaking of dreams, i had a good read some time ago- you can read it yourself here. it seems to be a jungian interpretation- freudian ones are quite constricted and restricted in some manner imo. go, destroy your childhood!

i am re-reading siddhartha now- it's not so much a pain if you do close reading, formulate your own interpretations and see how they all add up (if they do) with the annotations you've taken in class. i find that it is incredibly hard to comprehend in depth the complexities (i am sure) that are tucked deep inside the book. i don't see how we're expected to do that without having a basic understanding of the precepts and aspects which the book revolves around- hesse's life, hinduism, buddhism and perhaps pantheism. i think looking into hesse's life would help a lot in understanding the book.

oh well! i plan to do pt's assignment tonight- it looks quite fun. nov 03 paper 1.

must watch.
